The Trimble/Ybarra Compound Fireworks Show has been performed for over 15 years. It began very small with us buying commercial fireworks from our great friend Mike Adams. We would hang around down by the pool and listen to music while Dado, Tom, Rob and Sonny would light each cake or single shell individually. As the year went by we started growing, first by trying to keep fireworks in the air while music was playing, and then by getting our Professional Pyrotechnical License from the state of Texas. This is when the show grew exponentially. We could finally shoot some of the bigger shells and had the trailer built. Dado and Tom started going to fireworks conferences with Mike, and learned about the Cobra Firing System and ’76 ProLine fireworks and mounts. This was the birth of our PyroMusical.
The PyroMusical takes months of work to choose the right songs, order the right fireworks, and design a show that makes those songs come alive. Tom uses Finale3D to design the show, which creates a script that Dado and his crew (Fiver, Reid, Sy, Sully, and Maggie) to then start building the show. The week before the show it is all hands on deck. The show setup spreads out over a hundred yards wide. There are over 10,000 shots fired during the show. We have grown to add LED lights, fire machines, and cold spark machines to help make the music and the show progress without the sky going black. We have a DJ (Boogie Butt Productions) who has made the show so much better by adding true volume to the music that projects across the valley. All of this produces one of the largest “Backyard PyroMusical” productions in the country.
We do this because we love fireworks, this country we live in, and the way it makes our friends and family feel. It can be a emotional experience for some, but that just means we are doing it right. As John Adams so beautifully wrote to his wife Abigail, “I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.”
